Whether you’re staging your very first fundraiser or you’ve done it many times, announcing your fundraiser and getting the word out can be harder than it sounds! If you’re stuck in a rut with how you announce it or you’re not sure how to begin, try one of these creative tips this year.
PUT ON A SKIT
Skits are fantastic ways to tell people about your fundraiser! Instead of just handing someone a slip of paper with information on it, play it out in a skit put together by the group. It’ll make much more of an impression if it’s acted out, especially if there’s some humor written into it. Depending on what kind of group you lead, perform your skit in front of a church congregation, at a school assembly, or in a community park during a larger town festival.
HOLD A DINNER
Everyone loves to eat! Invite members of your church, school or community to a dinner hosted by your group. Not only can you use the dinner as a fundraising effort and raise some money to kick off, but you can announce the years’ larger fundraiser during the event!
CREATIVE ART
If you’re bored with just putting up signs or handing out announcements, it’s time to shake it up with some creative art! First, make sure your school, church, community center or wherever you’re putting your art is alright with your plans. Then get creative! Try paper mache, garlands, disco balls, sequins, found objects, pottery – anything! Putting up such a creative announcement will definitely help your fundraiser get noticed.
EDIBLE ANNOUNCEMENTS
Again, play to everyone’s love of food. Put your announcement on a sticker, then put your sticker on bagged cookies, chocolate or other treat. Of course, this option requires an initial budget for the treats, but if you can drum up some help from parents to provide some baked goods to hand out, that might make it easy. *Remember to keep allergies in mind with this option.
