Church Youth Group Fundraising Ideas

Fundraising as a church youth group can not only be fun, but it can also teach youth about responsibility and help them get more involved with the church and interacting with the congregation. After you've chosen your fundraising products, it's time to start figuring out the best ways to get the congregation and community members to participate in your fundraiser. Here are some ideas for getting the word out about your next church fundraiser.

Bulletin Inserts

If your church hands out bulletins each Sunday, talk to church administrators about getting an insert for your fundraiser. This insert could be just an informational sheet, a small order form, or even just an introduction to your youth group with news about what the fundraiser money will be going toward.

Carnival/Dunk Tank

Some churches have carnivals or picnics during the warmer seasons. See if you can get a table of some sort or even a dunk tank with which to drum up interest about your fundraiser. For instance, let someone throw a ball to dunk a leader if he or she places an order.

Serve Coffee & Snacks

If your church hosts coffee hours on Sundays, sign up with your fundraising group to serve. Set up a table near the snacks that has posters and information on it about your group and your fundraiser. Have one or two group members man the table to answer questions and collect orders.

Announcements

If there are often announcements before your church services, ask if one of your youth group members can announce your fundraiser to the congregation. Make sure to tell the congregation where and how to sign up, and what the fundraiser will help your group accomplish.

Set up a Hallway Table

Ask if you can set up a table in an often-used church hallway that details your fundraiser and includes order forms. See if a group member can staff the table during the most high traffic times, before and after services.

Ask Sunday School Parents

See if you can send an information sheet home with Sunday School students about your fundraiser and how students/parents can order or get involved in other ways. You might even include 2 small order slips on these sheets so that parents can order for a friend or family member.
