According to bloomerang.co and classy.org, up to 70% of donors don’t make a second donation. This is largely due to a lack of followup from the organization to which they donated. After a successful fundraiser with Evergreen Industries or any such fundraising method, make sure to say thank you to your donors in a meaningful way.
HERE ARE SOME FUNDRAISER THANK YOU IDEAS:
1. SEND YOUR EXPLANATION OF WHERE DONATIONS WENT
Most of us like to know where exactly our money goes. If you haven’t told donors already, send a handwritten note or even an email explaining how their donation impacted your organization. If you can get a specific member of your group to share their story, this is all the more meaningful.
2. POST ON SOCIAL MEDIA
In this day and age, it’s okay to say thank you on social media. It’s likely that some of your donors frequent Facebook already, so being tagged in a post crafted specifically for them could be one way to point out how thankful your group is. If you’re unsure on whether or not they’d like to be included, you can send them a direct message on Facebook and ask if it’s okay that you share your gratitude to the public.
3. MAKE CALLS WITH YOUR TEAM
Not as many of us leave voicemails anymore so when we do receive them, they feel pretty special. If you could get your team together and host what causevox calls a “thank-a-thon” you could not only call each donor with a sweet and personalized thank you, but you could also get it done quickly and make it a celebration of sorts!
4. RECORD YOUR MESSAGE
Video is one of the best means of saying thank you without tracking down each donor in person. This form better expresses emotion and gratitude than any other medium. Try to make each video personal – even if it means you record a general section for all the donors, and then go back in and add a personalized intro for each.
5. HOST A PARTY
If you can find an affordable venue and snacks, a party is perhaps the best way to show your appreciation. This way you can have your group thank the donors in person and give something back. If you do go this route, be sure to share more about your organization and what you hope to do with the money in a presentation or slideshow at the event.
